Welcome to the website of the Sudbury History Society.

The site is provided for the benefit of all those interested in the history of Sudbury through its buildings and people some of whom have become household names


The society has now been established for 10 years and is to celebrate by holding a special event in the Quay Theatre on Friday 10th September at 7:30pm for more details......

This months meeting included the AGM at which a new chairman was ratified.

Details of our excursions for the remainder of 2009 now published.
The talk this month was an extremely interesting presentationl on how the 'Black Death' had affected Little Cornard, both before & after it had destroyed most of the population.

Not so much a building, but some Bill Posters from the early 19thC advertising an Equestrian Circus in Stour St. and productions at the Fisher Theatre in Friar St. have just come to light, to view all 18 click here or on the image below.

486th Bomber Group was based at 'Station 174 Sudbury'.
